I'm proud to announce the tutorial for my painting Cougar Intensity is now available for you. A special thanks to reneedicherri at Autodesk for allowing me to give you all a peak behind the scenes at one of my favorite paintings to date. Inside you'll find a bit about how I go about composing the image, choosing color and how I get the textures I'm looking for in my paintings.While you are at it, take a look at the Hero Challenge Sketchbook is running this month! The astounding creature designer and Paleo artist Terryl Whitlatch asks "What's your perfect pet?" Get noticed by her and enter the challenge! I think you can all guess what my perfect pet would be. After you do that, make sure you check me out at all of the regular hangouts for more of my WIP's, artwork, and general nonsense!

When a promoted deviation shows up in your inbox, there's a little down arrow in the upper right hand corner of it. If you click it there should be an option to unwatch.

Oops, I just did some research, another way is you can also go to the General section of your Settings www.deviantart.com/settings/ge… (not sure if that link will work) and uncheck "Check here to receive Promoted messages".

This is really exciting not only because its a lovely piece and a nice tutorial but also because I use this app all the time! (I've bought all the sketchbook apps along the way and loved them but this one was a huge leap!) Never really took the time to do anything so intricate on my nexus, but I may soon!

I think the venom comes from the promoted post - a piece people didn't expect popping up in their feed. For myself, I'm glad it showed up! I may have felt differently if the content of the post had been different, but given that, I would have simply clicked the delete key and not viewed it. Just because something is promoted doesn't mean you HAVE to look at it. It only means it is reaching a greater audience.
And I for one am glad it reached me

Brilliant work, but never do this again. I got excited about seeing something from someone I follow, only to see a painting of a cougar. Don't keep doing this kind of nonsense because you need money, deviantArt. You'll start pissing people off.

I...I know this has nothing to do with journals...The hot topics/news written by Mods, such as the Sketch Book Hero challenge you are promoting, are written in journals. Which is..what I meant. This belonged in one of those journals. In the message center. Not in my inbox for things I subscribe to.
I just want to be clear I'm not mad at you, this wasn't your fault. And this, by all means deserved to be promoted! It's wonderful, and you do wonderful work. But this either should have been a daily deviation or some other form of normal promotion. Such as a news journal.
I have nothing against you at all, and I don't mean to bring this negativity to your wonderful page. There is just no where else I can say this.
