Well I had to stick a done on this one!This has been the better part of a week of free time for me. I practiced a different technique to start a painting with, using a more concept art style with a silhouette to start and going from there. This was fun and as I have been doing this was done on my iPad using a wacom stylus. As always I welcome comments and critiques.Related content

very good proportions and atmosphere! also the rendering looks very smooth! But it looks like, the left leg is ab it to short.

Thanks! The more I look at this the more I want to fix it lol. Being that it's one of the first I ever did, I'll take a look at it in a couple of years and maybe do one of those Re-draw meme's I see. lol that will be interesting.

Thanks, I started this diffrent than most. I starded with just sketching a black silhouette. Then I filled in the forms from the head down by the time I was done I was tired of it lol. I'm going to return to this and get an epic background/forground into it.

That looks really nice.
The only thing that bugs me though is that the person's feet run off the image, and that the other foot is awkwardly positioned making it look like a soldier with only one leg. Try to have the whole body in the image or just the torso and up with no legs being cut off. That helps with the composition.
BUT other than that, this is a really BEAUTIFUL piece.
... why do I know this much about art and still not able to get into freaking cca when theres people who bought their way into that school. -________-

Thanks! You know, what you pointed out was something that always bugged me. OK I lie, only since I have been learning about composition has it bugged me lol. I plan on revisiting this in the future. I want to bring in his leg, fix some anatomy mistakes and have more contrast between the figure and the distance. Stay tuned to this it should get stronger. I appreciate you taking a look, thats a great crit!

I haven't played it yet, I was hoping to pick it up tonight. I have played BF3, the single player sucked and I get owned big time on the multiplayer lol. I think you should go for it with the fan art, I think it would be awesome!

hey thanks man! yeah I'm just getting back into this after a loooooong time let alone trying to do it digitally! There's a lot to learn! This is actually the first human form besides nude sketches I've done so I was pretty happy with how it came out.

Absolutely man. The next step would be to tighten up the anatomy just a bit. For example, the face should protrude a little more from the neck and back of the head. Do that, and it'll really take this one over the top.

Thanks! I'll be revisiting this one again I'm sure, and the head will be the first thing I take a second look at. The mask he is wearing was a hard thing to get right as it wraps around the lower part of his head.

It's always good to give just enough detail than too much as it will destract and advert the viewers eye. I was gonna say something about it but you hit the nail on the head already. Btw the video is in the folder for you to have. I hope it helps a little
