The character I drew belongs to and his upcoming webcomic, "Sea Legs" and you can enter the contest here (its been extended to until the end of August)
Sea Legs Contest!

This guy has no name, he's just the second member of Aubrey's pirate crew as seen here on the lineup; nealdanderson.tumblr.com/post/…

My personal headcanon is that he's the younger brother of the rival pirate captain, Cornelius Delacroix, and he's ran away from his brother for some reason (not wanting to be his responsibility, forge his own path, i'm not certain) and that's why he looks so sad seeing that boat in the distance (I tried to renforce that theme by having his arms in the railings look like his arms are behind prison bars, symbolising his need for escape).

All of this, from the thumbnail sketch onwards, was done digitally on my new Wacom tablet. Its a really fun device ot use, I haven't used my old sketchbook for some time and this means I can save on paper too.
