Cool, but that's not a male bee. Males don't have stingers. The stinger is a female reproductive organ, also known as an ovipositor. So, this fella here is actually a female.

I also would not say that males are lazy creatures per say. Males do have several important roles in the hive that do need to be fulfilled. Two of these include local environmental regulation and coordination. For example, they can adjust the temperature of the hive by vibrating their abdomens to make it warmer, or beat their wings to make it cooler, and though they do not collect nectar, they can give other females the locations of nectar hotspots through a communication process called Tanzsprache (Dance Language).

Let's also not forget the most important role of all. That is, mating with a virgin queen. Virgin queens are hard to come by, and it takes a lot of effort for these little guys to locate one. The male bee will even have to give up his own life in this pursuit, because copulation usually results in death via disembowelment of the abdomen, since the queen tends to violently castrate them.
