Description My siblings and some friends have an RPG going that takes place in the pulp-fiction world of the 1940s (you know, super heroes, spies, private-eyes, Nazis, etc). I went to the last session to hang out, but since I didn't have a character I just drew sketches of some of the notable events, and what I thought were some of the funnier lines.

We had a new player, and he didn't really know the others when we began. He was speaking out of character when he asked for names, but I thought it was such an excellent thing for someone to say in the middle of a crisis (sky-barge crashing into ocean under heavy fire from flock of giant robotic birds), that I had to capture it.

Popular vote decided that an incidental character (terrified Nazi scientist) turned out to be 's ex-boyfriend (Ridel's character is German). Random, but why not?

It's great fun to be a tag-along, I'm debating whether it's even more fun than playing!

I don't know that I've tried tagging along, I love playing too much

"What are everybody's names? Quick!!"

"Huh? Now?! But why-"

"Well, Since we're all gonna die, you know, I wanted to know who I was about to miss..."

Indeed, those sessions must be fun to attend...

Very fun, especially as a tag-along sketcher.

Why weren't you playing, btw?
Though I guess too many participants can be a tough hing to handle for a Game Master (or whatever you call that in English)

Artoveli In reply to Faeliscity [2008-09-04 17:00:29 +0000 UTC]

Yup, we call them Game Masters too.>

I didn't play because I didn't want to hold everyone back while I created a new character (when I came they had already had one or two sessions). Besides, I think it's way more fun just to observe, and tease, and draw comics of the goings on.

He he - You're probably right. Anyway, since if you played we wouldn't get as many drawings, don't count on me for encouraging you! In fact, you know, it really sucks to actually play it. I tried, and it hurts a lot.

Actually, we don't call them "Game Masters", but I was lucky in guessing the translation for "Maรฎtre du Jeu"

The bottom sketch is hilarious. I'm determined to say that to someone now. Even though I'll probably never be able to shoot fire from my hands.

Aah... RPG sessions and their incredible amount of rambling. So fun! W use to write down quotes too. None of us has tried doing scetches yet though... maybe I should try to convince or to do that...

He he, I don't consider drawing doodles of the characters work.

Djoseph In reply to Artoveli [2008-07-14 19:43:35 +0000 UTC]

Guess not. But it was done with professionalism.
Do you usually play then? And what game was it they played? It seemed cool.

Artoveli In reply to Djoseph [2008-07-14 19:58:31 +0000 UTC]

Naw, I don't have a character for this one yet, and so far I think it would just be fun to tag along and do sketches (actually we've decided that I am Batman, sitting in the corner doodling while the others get stuff done ).

As for what game it is, my brother is the GM and he's made up the world and the story from scratch.

Djoseph In reply to Artoveli [2008-07-14 20:35:25 +0000 UTC]

Ahaa... cool.

Guess that makes it all the less rules and all the more fun. I prefer roleplaying before "rollplaying" (die-rolls that is).

sounds like an intresting game ^^. Always got ta feel sorry for the new guy .... usually because that would be me. I can't think of the last in person RPG I was involved in where I started with everyone else.

Though I do wonder what game they were playing there are so many out there

It's the D20 modern rules retrofitted to be... Well, Retro. I made most of the changes myself (minor though they are.)
(I'm the GM for this group, BTW. )

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Kesquest In reply to Kingjing [2008-07-14 00:28:17 +0000 UTC]

that's cool ^^. I don't play with D20 much as I'm married ta a White Wolf employee, we usually end up playing company games when he has the time.

I was curious because there is a game called called adventure that I've always wanted ta play. Hubby worked on it ... but I still have yet ta play it.

I... am not sure if I should be ashamed... but I can relate to the "What are everyone's names?" XD I have four forum rps that I'm running, and some people are in all of them, so I sometimes have to stop and think "Wait a minute, what is the vampire hunter doing at the masquerade murder scene? How did she get away from the vampire harem? And why is the Cheshire cat flirting with the dangerous monster?!"

I shouldn't do so many at one time... they all get confused...
