Found it! I saw this DailyDev'd a while ago, but I forgot to fave it. I think this is wonderful work! So wonderful, that I was one of the many who mistook it for a photograph And you painted this with oils?! That's a tricky medium, methinks! I'm no good at it.
Wonderful work!

I've always enjoyed superrealism, and this is just great.. My grandma would make pies just like that.

Thankyou...subconsciously I suppose I always had a fascination with superrealism...maybe that was the trigger for me!

I'd be sufficiently impressed if this painting was done on larger paper. But that you fit such lovely details so precisely at the scale that you did, that's amazing. Bravo!

Yea. She had a bad skin problem. Shed skin all over me. A bit chubby too. Shes also filled with cherry. (joke. Sometimes people take me too seriously)

Beautiful! It's nice to see we still have some of the old innocence... grandmas baking apple pies and state fairs, etc.

I love that the background looks like it was painted and the woman looks very realistic like she was taken out of a photo. VERY awesome, I love this.

I deliberately had a looser background to emphasise the figure's detail

I think that, contrary to work that I've seen from other photorealists, you are deeply sensitive to your subjects. You show this also in what subjects you become determined to show.
I like this old lady very much. I like that she is understated, yet taking so much pride in one of her actions. And I like that you found that to be worth something.

without trashing other photorealists, sometimes their work gets a slick airbrushed look to it which I avoid. Each painting is done in many layers of wash...that could be the answer.
