Description
A re-working of the butterfly idea. I enjoyed doing the first so much I had to try it again, learning from the first version, and tweaking things just a tad ..Again, 0.17mm and 0.25mm rotring rapidograph pens with black ink on off-white calligraphy parchment.

Thank you. The delicacy of the dottyness seemed to go with the design.

This is gorgeous. It's just the freedom I'm looking for in my works ... they always come out far too tight and boxed in. How did you come up with such a loose, flowing design?

Thank you I'm glad you like it.
I just let things flow out of me ... I can't explain how I do it, I just do. I stop from time to time to look at what's happening and sometimes leave it for a while until I know what to do next. And if I think it's done, I leave it for a while to check it is. I like curvy lines, arcs, spirals, and tend to let those flow onto the paper. If I remember rightly, this one started with the butterfly and things grew out from there. I didn't want to cover all the paper as I'd lose the flutterby in the designs, but I wanted to add enough to make it interesting, so I did it a little at a time, adding pencil lines first as guidelines to where the curves and shapes and so on went. Adding flowers was a natural thing as where else do you find flutterbys?

I like curves and spirals too. Sometimes I'll deliberately add a straight line as a contrast. I think you were wise not to cover the whole page. I think my problem is knowing when to stop!

Lately, I've not known when to stop covering the page with ink!

Hmmm, just another little bit there and maybe a bit over here, some black fill there and ... ooops too much!

Nope, no such thing as too much or a mistake, not really. We teach the pupils in school there are no mistakes, just 'happy accidents' because you then incorporate them into you work. I pause when I think I've done enough and live with it for a little while just to check ... that's something I've learned about
