In Japan, I guess, they call him/her it. they didnt really mind. In america, they think that it was rude to call people it, so translators put her, or maybe even him.

In the anime it's him... I remember first time I heard the name I thougt Girl, then when a saw Crona a thought Boy... so I guess he/she can be both..

Yeah. In the Manga he/she is actually a girl, to me, I also thought a girl because of the appearance, but soon enough, it change, making me think back into a boy. There are evidence of him/her as a boy, because he/she said "I dont know how to deal with girls."
