You want to see amazing Photoshop skin, check this dude - this is NOT a photograph. I've tried to do it and couldn't; he even sent me a note and told me how to do it and I still couldn't get the same effect.

The link isn't working. It says its "forbidden." Can you put another link?

I used to have him in my favorites
but I dropped him a while ago and now I've
lost that link. If I come across it I'll send it
to you.

I agree! your skin rendering is unbelievable. I wish I could learn to do it. I had written to Keith Garvey once to find out he does it, although he was nice, he wouldn't share.
Any tips you can share?
Best wishes,
David

I really don't have any secrets. One thing is, I start by picking the colors right off the reference photo with the eyedropper tool. Another is, remember - direct light, reflected light, shadow. Here's a great tutorial from the master:

That's pretty helpful, I'll try that out tomorrow. Thank you!

Thank you, I have viewed those tutorials but I don't have the brushes down just yet. I don't seem to be able to get the smooth transitions that you do. I guess I just have to dig in and practice with different opacity and flow settings.
Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction, I hope I have something to share soon.
David

Okay, well I make a selection with the pen tool and turn it into a dotted line by hitting command-return (Mac) like for instance on the thigh, then I hide the selection (command- H) and drag a gradient across the thigh using the radial gradient on multiply at 30%. Then with the selection still active I take a soft brush set at normal and 100% and click on lock transparent pixels in the layers pallet and paint in a highlite on the edge of the leg.
Sometimes I use the airbrush set at opacity 30, flow 50.
