Description
Following the Imperial Wars between Virgon and Leonis, the Caprican Navy stepped up to enforce treaty stipulations between the two colonies. It was during this period that several classes of vessels were developed and eventually put into production, including the Defender-class Cruiser.

The Defender was developed as a mid-size fleet support vessel, designed to support the larger central fleet vessels such as the Atlas-class carrier. More of a direct combatant, the Defender was envisioned to provide gunnery and flak support to the bigger and less maneuverable carriers, allowing for the extension of the carrier's own defensive screen in fleet engagements.

The class itself was deployed in moderate numbers approximately 10 years before the commencement of the First Cylon War, with an addition 25 being constructed during the war's 12-year time span.

This ship was originally envisioned as the "Artemis-class Corvette" by Barricade, altered by Starslayer to be a landing ship and then redrawn by David CanisD Breidis. I have scaled the ship up to cruiser-scale appropriately, redesigned much of it and re-detailed it to fit in with the aesthetic of my previous First Cylon War designs, chiefly my Artemis-class Battlestar (link below).
