Looks amazing, I would change the pose so the silhouette reads better on the left leg. The current pose makes it looks like he has one really short leg.

Great work indeed, but it looks a bit boring and flat. I'd play with the angles and lighting to make it look more dramatic and alive

Wow, very cool! I love action shots like this! It feels very exciting, looks natural. The bullets plinking off of the railing and armor is a great touch and one of my favorite parts about this! I also really love looking up and seeing space up there through the glass panels on the right. That's really friggin' awesome.

Well, you definitely got 'action-oriented' and 'scifi' nailed! What software are you guys working in?

Ah, ok... 3dsmax - so is that the 3dsmax scanline render? the render effect is very distinctive, and the depth of field excellent!
thanks for the FB like, too

Well this one is about 80 percent scanline render yeah, there is about more than 30 passes altogether, both environment and character, apart from scanline I just use mental ray for render 4 type of reflection pass separately. DOF done in z-depth lens blur tho , and there is no GI on the scene.

I'm amazed that there is no GI !! Assume then that you used quite a complex lighting rig?

as07 In reply to garryts [2012-09-19 16:35:59 +0000 UTC]
Well it's not that complex as for the lighting, it just there is a lot of passes which make it complex, I separate everything (I mean everything is diffuse, specular, reflection, shadow, volumetric and RGB channel) from each keylight, backlight and fill light which makes the photoshop file is over 600 MB when everything got composite ( still not including reflection on the robot body alone have more than 6 passes), I did this technique because I was worked in Feature film before, so it's very efficient for me ( all that big holywood movie did this kind of stuff most of the times anyway )
