Actually, that's probably true. Much of Elsa's behavior throughout the movie was similar to panic/anxiety attacks and would explain why she attacked Anna, froze the town and then ran off. The whole point of Elsa's character is that what she did wasn't because she wanted to hurt anyone but because she was scared and lost control. She also locked herself away for years, pushing everyone away, including her sister, which suggests depression. I've even heard the theory that "Let it Go" is about suicide but I think that's a bit of a stretch, especially since there's no indication that she's planning on committing suicide. Nearly losing Anna would probably make the anxiety worse.

This is...maybe my favorite piece of fan art ever. I LOVE this! Elsa looks so vulnerable, and it would make sense for this to be a frequent concern of her's.
I would love to write a fanfic inspired by this, with your permission of course (but given how amazing this is, I wouldn't be surprised if someone had already done that).

I think it was a comic of a head cannon that every once in awhile Elsa would have nightmares that she had frozen Anna's heart again and Anna would have to do this to reassure her that she was just fine.Β
