Lovely! I would like to see the eyes be a trifle more almond-shaped and a little bit more of a ruff on the sides of the neck, but those are nitpicks by a breed fancier.

Wow, it's like getting dragged into an involuntary staring contest. In a good way, of course--this is captivating. It's impossible to let your eyes just pass over it, the frank stare grabs you and holds you. It's a very herding-dog trait, it gives the collie an extra burst of personality. I love it!

A smoothie! Very nice. His eyes are a little round for the breed, but he could always be a 7 or 8 month old. 
I'd really like to see you at least finish the dog out. Still every faveable as is though.

I can tell you know your dogs because you know there's a smooth coated Collie next to the "regular" rough coated one.
And because you make kick-ass, spot-on drawings of them.

You did this so wonderfully! I dont really think a background is needed, like Pearls-Girl said, it may take away from the portrait, unless it was really light.
