Description Like the silver from previous, this is the Milennium Dragon morphed and re textured to resemble a D&D style, in this case a red dragon. I know the wing color is not correct but I needed to test this one, and I am allowed some artistic license. He is wearing Swidhelm's wings that I mentioned earlier, rather than the inferior default ones.

Cool. I might have to try it out and see what's up. I've wanted to get into 3D modelling for some time now.

Thanks! Mostly I take the original texture or at least original bump map of the model and add my own color and markings, but I can almost never leave something as it comes 'out of the box', lol... I have to add to it

beautiful dragon, excellent work I hope one day I'll be that good...
I've got one question - how do you merge all body parts together? I have tried many ways that I'd found in the web but I still can't make it as natural as yours :/

It's a 3d model, specifically the Milennium dragon, though I morph mine more than most tend to. The wings though are a seperate model, made by Swiddy. If I ever have a problem with seams on a 3D image I usually use a combination of cloning to cover it and a multiply layer to add any missing shadows. Thanks, glad you liked it!

I wonder how they make the wings...
Very nice..done on Poser I presume?

Ascynd In reply to Decadia [2010-04-05 05:41:05 +0000 UTC]

Yep... this set of wings was modeled as a flat piece and then dynamic properties applied to it in Poser. It's the only way to make wings that conform to the whole body of the dragon without weird polygon folds or extreme morphing. That's why most models sold commercially have wings that end somewhere under the dragon's armpits.

The guy who made these is a genius, look up Swidhelm on Renderosity if you want to see his work, he has awesome 3d modelling skills.

Hmm..I see...I was thinking about Zbrush, but yeah, it may be easier to do it on Poser.
Oh yes, he does have very good skills. ^ ^'

Well actual modeling can't be done in Poser. What I meant was the wing is a flat model until turned into dynamic cloth. Now Zbrush I know nothing about, other than after seeing some of the neat stuff you did with it, I am getting inspired to try it out.

Hmm...I see.
Yeah, Zbrush gets really easy to use once you get the hang of it. =>

Thanks! Eventually I'll get around to making the proper red/purple/black combination on the wings and put together a whole scene with this guy instead of just a dragon posed against a sky.
