Thoughts about the Character:

I thought Safiya would have been orphan from a very young age, so she has no memory of her mother and father face. She lived in a lot of different houses with all kinds of people but none seemed to fully accept Safiya, and there was quite the reason for it. Safiya was not your regular child, she always had a certain connection with the underworld god Anubis and would usually say aloud the canine god's dark/terrible remarks about both people, livestock or plants and to the surprise of many, those remarks seemed to come true sooner than later.
The last place she stayed at was with a very grumpy and logical old man, he was not fazed by the little Safiya's predictions not because he didn't believe her but because the old man had already accept how life is, he understood that it wasn't the child who was killing the living, Safiya was simply relaying the message, it was the child's way to tell people around the soon-to-be departed what to expect and to prepare for the fated day that is coming.
The old man instructed Safiya that he didn't mind any of her remarks about other people nor animals, but he didn't want to know anything about his own death. That would be the only time Safiya didn't announce it to the affected person. As a favor, the old man told Safiya to look for the temple of Anubis and deliver a couple of letters the old man kept with him. Of course his time came as it does for anyone else and so Safiya did exactly what she was told (it wasn't like she had anywhere else to go as she was quite known among the villagers). In the temple, she delivered the letters, it took some time before the head of the temple finished reading, it was quite a lot of letters, but before he had even finished, the man prostrated before Safiya as it was clear she was the Emissary of Anubis. Safiya never asked but in those letters was the testimony of every family that Safiya had lived together, all of them relating the experience they had with the child who could tell when death was coming.
As for her personality, I thought Safiya would be the kind to say dark things with a smile on her face (which makes everything she says a bit more macabre), and of course she would have a dark humor that is unique to herself.
