Description
Physically, the manticore was know to have the body of a red lion, the face and ears of a old man and a tail ending in a sting like that of a scorpion. The mouth contains three rows of teeth and was also attributed with having a voice that was the mixture of pipes and a trumpet. It would often challenge its prey with riddles before killing.Related content

Very nicely done, Greek mythology is interesting, a Gryphon has the head of a lion, the body of a quadruped eagle and the tail of a scorpion or snake.
The head of it looks quite interesting, with glowing eyes and its expression.

I always thought the manticore had a beautiful woman's face... no, that's the sphinx. (you should try that)
I think I most like the face--it looks absolutely intimidating, even though it's based off an old dude. The eyes and the coloring, I believe, are what makes it so.
The colors are vibrant, too, and I don't think that takes away from the piece at all. It adds a bit of the fantasy flavor to it.
I'm not feeling the tip of the tail too much. It does look pretty much like a scorpion tail, but for some reason I don't look at it and think "wicked--run in the opposite direction."

looks quite devilish and cool. love your portrayal of it, though i admit the body reminds me of a hyena'a at points, and the tail looks intimidating at all but its point. hmm, actually, i like your interp of the body better than an actual pure lion's body, for this particular piece.
