I also have seen a design similar to this before. No matter who draws it, though, I think Tikal is one of those girls who'd look just fine with little to no clothing. The shawl she's wearing here, shows her tribal roots and gives her a way to wear a little color, but is clearly ornamental rather than practical.

Yeah, I like her with less clothes personally! Her actual design feels too cluttered sometimes and the shawl seems like just enough for her (and brings a more tribal touch like you said), imo. They should design more girls Sally-style w/ less clothes.

I agree completely with that last point. I have a feeling that people would be less likely to complain of a double standard if there was no double standard in the way males and females were depicted. Have a few girls (and a few guys) with substantial outfits, have some with a few articles of clothing (which may be more ornamental than practical), and some wearing only gloves and shoes (or maybe not even the gloves). For the girls, they could associate certain levels of dress with certain personality types (more tomboyish = less clothing), or just mix it up completely.
