Description Oskar and Eli from Let the Right One in: [link]

I just finished watching this movie. It was amazing. One of the best I've seen and BY FAR the best vampire movie I've seen.

Not one of the best I've seen, it's THE best vampire movie I've seen.

So flawless it looks like a photo.
And you're right, this film was so perfect, so unique, so complex in its apparent simplicity that it automatically deserves to stand by other great horror classics such as Murnau's and Herzog's Nosferatus and Coppola's Dracula. A true classic of the new millenium.
And Eli... Eli was by far the best, most tragic, most unique vampire that appeared on the big screen from a long time.

The book is spectacular. I read it after watching the movie and I have to say, that's the order to do it in! The movie was a wonderful visualization of the novel, but reading it added so much more depth to the characters you already fell in love with on the screen. Seriously, it's a wonderful story.

I know, man. I did exactly the same thing... Still, the movie is slightly better than the novel, which itself looks a little bit like an interesting novelization of an intriguing script, don't you agree? A bit like Lindqvist's "Harbour" or "Handling the Undead", who were both interesting. But not as much as his masterpiece we are talking about right now.
And yes, this is one of the most original, incredible, touching love story I've seen in a long time, with something that Twilight crap doesn't have: its own philosophy. And Leandersson's Eli is worthy to go alongside other great characters such as Sherck's and Kinski's Nosferatus and (somehow) Gary Oldman's Dracula. But only her keeps the primate as the best original character of the new millenium. Edward and friends can simply eat their hearts out! Ha!
Or am I overdoing a bit?

Well, Twilight's biggest problem is that it's characters are super weak and it's plot is just hashed together, that's because it's female pseudo-porn more than anything else.

Comparing it to Let the Right One in is like comparing apples and potatoes. If you're going to make a comparison do it with Anne Rice or something, who - up until I read Lindqvist - defined the concept of modern day vampires for me.

True. Anne Rice's vision of the modern vampire has been an important step in this journey towards a more realistic approach of an ancient legend. Still, with Lindqvist, this has probably (although temporarily) reached its apogee, and became something closer to philosophy involving many moral aspects both from the "preys" and the "predators". Actually, the story's more of a reflection on man's social isolation. Or what?
And yes, basically it's a waste of time even mentioning the word "Twilight", because you know you'll eventually end up spitting bile upon bile. "If you cannot speak well about something or someone, don't speak about it" (Giulio Andreotti's Mother).

It is a great picture. But why is Oskar covering his ears?

He's resting his head in his hands, not covering his ears.

Yeah, the american version wasn't nearly as good. The book is AMAZING. Seriously. If you haven't, you should read it. It tells so much more of the story.

I'll definetely look into it.

The thing with most american horror flicks is, remake or not, they use to many cliches and censorship in them. whereas most foreign horror films I watch, would cause major drama before ever being played in american theatres... simply for the graphics and plot lines.
