Description
drawing of a centaur in my sketchbook, it has no background because it is being used as a sketch for a sculpture of a toy design. its currently out of my sketchbook now and in a display case at my school for our class....sorry for the poor photo quality.
heres a direct reference that i used to draw this - [link]
thanks to ~ZephyrCat for posting the link in my comments.
i should of been more straight forward when i posted this... it is almost an exact copy of someone elses drawing. why? because i liked the drawing in the link, i needed to draw a pencil drawing of a character to make a sculpture from. so there it is. when i posted this a very long time ago, i didnt know that using someone elses work as a reference to your own was wrong, in fact in my highschool especially in ninth, tenth, and even eleventh grade it was encouraged to copy other work to build up technical skill.
for the record though, at least this is just a copy, not a tracing. at least the actual drawing skill was my own...
and also for the record, i havent done a piece since around this time that hasnt had the references out in the open about... i use a lot of stock images in my more recent work and manipulate them as many others do... ive grown up a whole lot since the beginning of 11th grade when this was done, and it shows in my work and attitudes.

that was a reference source of mine... back like... 5 years ago. ill post it in my comments, thanks for the link.
the drawing of the centaur was for my sculpture... back in 9th grade we were encouraged to use whatever we could find and copy from it, almost exactly. plagiarism, in a way. theres some of my old work that was taken from magazines and what not. i dont do that anymore, because to me its cheating and copying and what not. it was a good source to perfect my shading, but nothing of originality. then again... what is original? nothing anymore. its near impossible to make something original, or at least without reference. to draw without some reference isnt great anyways, since the dawn of time people used references.
but, im sure you sent this to me to prove that its not 'mine', the character. its not. but... it is just a sketch, something for something else, which is original.

fuck man im sorry i cant count. i got hit in the head pretty badly a while back and ever since my memory has been shit. this was done in 11th grade, because i had a certain teacher who came to my school when i was in that grade. in 9th grade i did a different work that was directly based on a magazine ad.
im in my second year of college right now - soon to drop out actually, cause college blows - so do the math cause i cant.

I like the feel of motion in it. Cool shading on flanks. Looks like the texture of a real horse.

That's nice and spiffy. I like it, alot. I'm.. uh.. not to great with centaurs. I always get confused with where I should connect the two bodies, and I'm not exactly great at drawing horses...
But you're awesome at that. The tail, the hooves, the contours of the muscles, his face, the shading... amazing. Nice job. Really, really, really nice job.

I'm writing that down. I just found a picture I drew a few years ago, it was connected at the armpits. --_--; You're welcome, thank /you/.

Thanks for the compliment.
yeah i know my parents just want the best for me, but their protection of me will more then likely do the opposite of their good intentions. luckily for me, they are starting to realize it... thank god.
