Description
I've been writing a story about Tora and leopards. The picture is related to the story, but set some time later. I hope it will be a good story, if I can ever get part the tricky scene I'm currently stuck on!The leopard is a friend of Tora's. He has a name but I won't tell you what it is because I'm not 100% on it and I might change it
The picture came from when I started thinking that Tora probably would not have spent her whole youth in the same spot in the jungle, unlike her dad, and at some point she would get a bit of independence and go traveling a bit. Here, she and the leopard are out trekking on the way to somewhere at night...
As for the picture...it was made using a combination of 3D (Daz 3D) and Photoshop. I decided to see how painting on top of simple 3D models could be. The answer is: limiting. But the outcome is pretty interesting. I painted all the faces, colours, clothes, hair and textures, and the background from scratch, having started with just the basic shapes from Daz 3D. It was a new experience but I don't think I'll be relying on this technique in the future. On the other hand, I would really love to learn to build and render my own 3D models, and am considering taking a course to learn how to do that.
This picture has taken me so long to finish because I've been having trouble with my drawing tablet on my new laptop, which still has not been resolved, so in the end I gave up and went back to my old laptop to finish this.
My main question when I look at this picture is, where is all that background light supposed to be coming from??

It's Tora and 'Commodore Fluffy-paws'!! (........god I am such a nerd.....xD)
I love this. The technique you described using, sounds a bit tricky, but you seem to make it work. It's still very, your style.
I love the idea of Tora befriending that leopard cub. Even in my own head-canon I imagined Tarzans children hanging out with 'fluffy'. Can't wait to see where this goes.

Correct I'm glad you like it. I discovered some new tools in Photoshop while I made this, like gradient mapping. That is going to revolutionise my paintings I can tell you
hopefully I'll get past my block on the story soon and get it finished. In the mean time though the next chapter of the La story is coming along well

Ah, that is good. I always love it when I discover another way to improve my art. Right now I have hit a block and haven't really drawn ANYTHING, I haven't even colored any finished things.
But I'm glad your working you storying and I can't wait for the rest of La's story too. Good luck on all of it!!

Neither can I I hope you get past your block soon, it can be such a pain because you KNOW you want to draw stuff but you just can't get it done. I usually just let myself find other things to do for a while until inspiration returns, rather than wasting lots of energy trying to force myself to be creative...

And I have wanted to draw, I just feel like I'm in a slump. I also have 2 research papers due at the end of the week so I also feel like I shouldn't enjoy myself until they are finished. Ever feel like that...?

Oh yeah I know exactly how you feel. I suffer from multiple blocks at one time, writers block, artists block, sorting out my damn inbox block. And I know what you mean about deadlines too, I just handed in my last paper of the year yesterday now just exams to look forward to :S lol....but I have found a method for coping with the block which sometimes works: like right now with my fanfiction, I've got two stories on the go at the same time, which means when I get stuck and bored with one I can just swap over and work on the other one
in this way, the next chapter of La's story is edging closer and closer to being finished.
I formally introduced my girlfriend to Tarzan for the first time a couple days ago (she's never seen it, and I haven't watched it in ages!) and then I got all inspired and drew some fanart!! Which I might finish and put on deviantart later today maybe it will give you some inspiration and power to overcome your own artists' block(?)

I normally I would do that too (working on different things at once), but I have found that lately I just can't START anything. I finally was able to do something last week and I have a very nice beginning. I have worked on it more tonight and I think I have finally hit a point where I can draw again. (Hetalia is like a virus, thats why I can draw again) I was so stuck and frustrated that it kept me from even being able to focus. Like I had said before, I feel like if I have school work I shouldn't be drawing fanart or un-school related things. But I think I am fine now.
Your last paper..... doesn't it feel good that it is over with. (i ALWAYS feel relieved when research finals are done) I hope you do well on your exams and good luck to you hun.
And let me say I will be looking forward to the next La story. I always loved your fiction.
Really she had never seen it before? Did she enjoy it?? haha, I'm the same I haven't watched that movie in a really long time. However back in the beginning of the school year, my friend Yvonne (literally out of nowhere) got REALLY into the movie which prompted me to to gush about it with her, and we would both start drawing Tarzan and whatnot. That was when I drew Tora I was also lucky at the time to have in influx of money and I was able to buy online The Tarzan Cronicles, The Tarzan Broadway photo book, and the Broadway Soundtrack. (which is amazing!) So exciting since I had wanted Cronicles for like 7 years or so. I think talking about it is making me want to draw more.
I think we come back from seeing "Prince of Persia" tomorrow, I will have to watch Tarzan again. Now to go look for fanarts from Ashren!!
Oh wait, big bonus! I have to tell you this. I was spending the weekend with a friend, nothing more then hanging out and late night trips from junk food, anyway....
her IM pops up and says STAN4US. At first I thought Jenny was on my laptop and maybe she was on DA or something but then I realized it was her IM. (i don't have AIM hooked up to my computer yet) I asked her "since when did you know STAN4US!??" I was really kind of dorking out a bit because I thought it was so funny. She wanted to know how I knew her Gargoyle friend and I had to explain I met him when I was 15, through your fansite because of Tarzan. Then she started dorking out because she met a friend of mine form that long ago. Charles couldn't believe I was friends her. xD We laughed a bit about it.

Is the Tarzan Chronicles that big hefty book full of pretty art? I think I saw a copy of it when I was at EuroDisney a few years ago but I couldn't afford it D: then again I have the special edition DVD which has a LOT of pictures on it so I guess I can't complain
I was really happy and surprised that she liked the film. She's got really good taste in films too so I decided it was proof that Tarzan really is brilliant, and it's not simply that I am irrationally obsessive about it
I finished my exams this week and I think I've done okay, or at least I hope I've got the grades I need to get my place at Edinburgh Uni *fingers crossed* this means that I now have a world of free time for drawing and writing, and is amazing how immediately when you have free time you find you've got writers and artists block again :S but I am DETERMINED to find a way to get over it! I hope you manage to find a way through yours too
I'm assuming you've also finished school work for the summer now, right?
That's so weird about Charles it must be a small world after all. He must be a pretty prolific online-friend-maker

Yes it is that big hefty book full of pretty art. I had an influx of money last fall and decided to finally buy it. I have wanted it for years and found a nicely priced used one online. Ah yes I have heard about the special edition DVD. It has all sorts of goodies on it. I have the same, unless I'm confusing yours with the collector's edition...?? I don't know.
Anyway if you ever decide to buy the book, your best bet would be to look for one online that isn't too expencive.
Of course Tarzan is brilliant! xD
It's good she liked it. Does she normally watch animated films or she doesn't care..?
I have been out of school for about a month already and I have to start thinking about what classes I want in the fall pretty soon. At least by the middle of July. I know how that is, I finally have all this free time and no inspiration to do anything. I have sort of over come that now, but for a while I couldn't get anything started. I hope you did well enough on your tests for your school. Good luck on that dear.
Yup He has a habit of popping up EVERYWHERE. haha

Hmm, job center are a bit rubbish by themselves. I'll tell you what has worked for Marta (and me also before) I went on google and searched for every temp agency within a reasonable distance, then emailed all of them with a copy of my CV and a covering email saying something along the lines of "I came into your branch a few days ago and you asked me to email a copy of my CV to you." This technique always yields some kind of result x

Oh, yes I did, actually. I was actually captivated as to what will happened to La next and how this will shape her into the La we know from the Tarzan story arcs?
And thank you.
