Description
A simple fall into a pit while walking around can change your life forever. Your world that previously seemed so stable and unbreakable turns out to be an old broken machine, which stands on the sharpest edge of destruction. And incomprehensible ancient powers will force you to take on their responsibility of keeping it safe.Haven't drawn for a long - bachelor thesis took almost all the time. I’ve been making this image very slowly for the last month – it helped me to keep my brain unharmed from a tremendous amount of coding and math.

I've always wanted to ask Faust if Equestria was flat. After all, there's no reason why it needs to be a globe since the sun and moon are magically controlled. And with the heavy Greek and Roman culture used in the show, I could see it as a geocentric and flat world.

I like how you did Celestia and Luna in this as "pre-Alicorns". I especially like how you took the Molestia look and made it Celestia's pre-Alicorn appearance. That was quite brilliant. It is fitting, too, seeing as Luna's appearance immediately after being freed from Nightmare Moon could be considered a powered down form, so it fits that Celestia would have one, too.

It's a fascinating concept and explains how the sun and moon can be moved across the sky when it would actually just be the moon and the earth being moved. But wow, that brings all kind of levels of wtf and such. Biggest secret kept by the alicorn princesses. I'm guessing that Crystal Empire is the station's primary weapon or something.
And speaking of alicorns... they aren't ones yet. Let me guess, the 'alicorn transformation' is part of becoming a part of the machine?

Well, 'alicorn transformation' is necessary for restructuring of the nervous system to interact with a control system. And the wings are just a side effect due to a old broken equipment and failure in the process of transformation.

So, assuming that each alicorn is granted a specific aspect in the continued maintenance of the station, with Celestia and Luna controlling the illumination system and the space port, while Cadence controls the defense system, what will Twilight get?

Actually, Cadence and Twilight controls nothing. Even Celestia and Luna have any idea what is it and how does it works - principles of operation of the machine were too complicated to anypony in the past, and they still are even at their current level of progress. They were just forced to control Sun and Moon by the threat that their world may die. And Equestrian AI can give such credentials only in a critical situation.

I can't call this concept my own - this idea is too obvious. How other way can Celestia and Luna control the Sun and Moon, except they are artificial? So far geocentric worlds don't exist in our universe. Except that the origin of these luminaries can be magical or technological, I prefer the second way.

It isn't so much the idea itself, it's how you've portrayed it that's got my attention.
