Description
(( Posting this from my main >w>Made this for a friend and anyone who wants to use it.
Paws
Like it says up there paws have 4 toes and a dewclaw(I think I spelled it wrong up there). I've seen many others put 3 toes on there and I think its acceptable but I like to do things the natural way so I tend to put 4 toes in. The 2 middle toes are always the largest and the dewclaw is optional but if you're lazy like I am half the time then you don't have to put it in there unless you're using it as a thumb for anthro styled stuff. Claws are usually always white but they can be black if you want, though those are mostly used on canine anatomy.
Now the back legs are always the ones I see people mess up on. They're almost never long unless you have more athletic breeds of cats such as the Bengal or the Abyssinian; they can also be really short too if you're going for the munchkin look. Their thighs are not ridiculously round either, they have a nice slender look to them. It may take a while to get these down, it did for me anyways.
Head
Cat heads are not, repeat are not, like canine's heads. Cats have significantly smaller muzzle and their ears are not ridiculously huge, to me they look like foxes if they're too big. Now again it all depends on the breed you're going for because cats can have small and big ears along with curled back and folded ears. Their muzzles can also be pushed in, which is called a brachycephalic cat, or normal, they're almost never long.
Facials
Eyes
A cat's eyes are usually almond shaped or round. The natural colors for a cat are yellow/orange, blue, and green; things like purple, black and dark dark brown do not exist in a natural cat's eye color palette. I usually draw their eyes cartoony style to give them more expression considering you don't usually get that from a cat(you usually have to determine their emotion by tail movement).
Mouth
Now I do not recommend using the closed mouth portion of my style for a natural look, its not anatomically correct its just my cartoony style taking over. Now cats usually have a "w" shaped mouth, those which I didn't really put up there. (Can't really say much here considering I did this all without ref so... )
Nose
The nose also has natural colors to it, they're almost always usually pink unless you have some darker breeds who have black noses or they can be an orangish pink, or can have some white to it.
Other than a few anatomically bad mistakes up there this is pretty much how I draw my cats, my advice to you is stare at a lot of cat pictures. Study their movements, their behavior, how they walk, jump, run. It helps so much to get the anatomy down first before you start to develop a style.
Oh my god, I'm gonna kill the new submitting style, its stuck on stash and won't let people see it *china rages*
