Firefly’s Story So Far (Plotlines Tab)
“Ok, I think these are just about done!” Ambrossia called from across the room. While watching the cupcakes rise with her twin sister was nice, she had wasted no time in starting the washing up. Every wyngro who uses the kitchen to cook, bake or generally make a meal for themselves must abide by Alma’s rules and one of the most important is wash everything you use. Being one of Alma’s star bakers, Ambie took this chore very seriously, scrubbing the mixing bowl and spoons until they sparkled in the afternoon light. On a normal occasion, she would reserve this job for after having her fill of the left over mixture, however since these were special spicy cupcakes for Firefly, she knew better than to burn out her mouth - promising herself that she would return later to make a batch without the additional charberries.
Her magic glands glowing a bright red, Firefly quickly snuffed out the flames under the baking tray and without a second thought reached in to grab it. Immediately, she realised her mistake, letting out a short gasp quickly followed by a shrill “Hot! Hot! Ow!” as she stubbornly continued to hold the tray for longer than she probably should have.
“Are you ok over there, Fie?” Her sister asked, her ears flicking back as she hurriedly placed the last spoon on the countertop, abandoning her still full washing up bowl as she ran over to try to assist her. Admittedly, there wasn’t much she could do aside from encouraging her sibling to set the tray down before it hurt her more than it already was - and by that time, Firefly’s magic had kicked in, raising the temperature of her claws to match that of the tray.
It was quite some time before the pair eventually made their way up to their soon-to-be-not-so-shared bedroom, plate of still slightly warm cupcakes in hand. Firefly sighed contentedly as she placed the plate on the side and quickly proceeded to snarf down the cake closest to her. She hadn’t realised just how hungry she was until the smell had hit her nose and the taste flooded her mouth. She shot her sister a huge grin when she caught sight of her watching expectedly. Ambie was always one to be a little nervous when it came to giving people any foods she had not been able to try herself and even when it came to those she had, she would often find herself asking the consumer if it tasted alright. “These are great as always, Ambie! Thanks!” Fie exclaimed, mouth still slightly full, her cheeks flushing ever so slightly as the heat of the berries kicked in. Her smile only grew as she saw her sister relax and settle down to sit beside her.
“You’re welcome, Fie.” Stretching out her front legs slightly, Ambrossia let out a small yawn - all that dumb emotion stuff must have gotten her tired. Honestly, Firefly didn’t blame her either, if anything she was feeling a little bit sleepy herself. But regardless, her hunger was what was driving her as she grabbed three more of the not-so-tiny cakes and stuffed them into her mouth. It had seemed like a good idea while she was thinking about it... more food means less hunger quicker. Plus, more delicious cake is always better than a little nibble, right? Well... she was very quickly hit by the reality of the situation as she tried to chew her mouthful of spicy cake.
A sputtering noise sounded from next to her and as Ambie stared in disbelief, her mouth agape as she barely managed to speak, “Did... did you just shove three of those in your mouth?”
Trying to open her mouth as little as possible, “Maybe.” Fie responded, shoving as much as she could into her cheeks as she desperately tried to swallow the rest. It was a bad idea. One of many bad ideas. But the amazing and fearless Firefly would not be defeated by some measly cupcakes!
The more she chewed, the more she could feel her entire face heating up until finally her mouth erupted with a burst of flame. Ambie squeaked in fear, ducking as the fire flew overhead, barely missing her new tuft before fizzling out. In an amazed/flustered bemusement pair spoke over each other, “Yoooo! Did you see that?!” “Fie! Not inside!”
