Philia: *reads comments below* You people are totally close-minded. Balut is one of my and my kuya's greatest delicacies in our country. Plus balut is one of my favorite foods.

Tasted awesome when I tried it the first time.

[I could've tried balut if I didn't run away from the food table while I was in the Philippines for a visit.
I tried durian once though... Not that great. //shudders
But somehow I don't mind the smell at all.]

Balut is awesome!! xD
As a Filipino, I do NOT understand why people hates them ._. .-.
It may look gross, but dude.
You HAVE to try it.
/ whispers
It tastes like egg with a little bit of chicken soup.

OMG
Hi fellow Southeast Asian!
I hail from Singapore, where everyone is more or less... Westernised. Personally we think balut is mildly disconcerting but I don't deny some of us would eat it given the chance. XD
Who knows, mom might decide to serve it up someday
Then again, I like century eggs so I can't argue. :I

( Durian... That's the really stinky spiny fruit. I can't even eat Durian flavored wafer thingies. But... Holy damn. The things that people will eat. Then again... I live in Louisiana, home of crawfish and gator meat so... )

OutofTomates.
My country is known for liking that stinky fruit. Here, half the population loves durian. The other half (including me) can't stand it. The smell of it while driving past a durian fruit stand is just... ugh. The taste itself isn't all that bad though...

( Yeah I hear ya. The taste is good. But you have to get past the smell... And that's the thing I can't do. )
