Hades is one of my favorite Disney villains, so here he is and if you know about the popular tale of Hades and Persephone this drawing shouldn't totally escape you. This is my design for Persephone and I love it, let your imagination wreak havoc over what's transpiring here.Recently I heard about another possible lover Hades had in Greek mythology, I'm not the most knowledgeable on the subject, so let me know if I'm wrong, but whose Minthe? I think that's how you spell her name, I need to know more about Hades and my sister's Greek myth textbook only has a small section for Hades (Zues slept with too many women lol), poor guy.
Yeah, but besides Hades, I do enjoy the whole movie, I don't care that it doesn't follow the original myth, I'm HAPPY the original myth wasn't told.

evidently the myth books i have were not "original" then. Oh, well. He still wasn't the way Disney put his character. Heck, he wasn't even the guy who got pegasus, which is probably a good thing cuz the guy that did got himself and Pegasus killed...

Mynthe was a nymph who fell in love with Hades. When Persephone found out, she turned her into the mint plant.

Minthe was a wood nymph that tried unsuccessfully to seduce Hades. His love was only for Persephone and in the end she turned herself into a tree.

There was a human woman that loved him too, but she died very tragically and turned to dust. Hades took pity on her, and planted the flute she loved to play in her ashes and tree grew out it. It, made wondrous music when the wind blew through it's branches.

It was different in tone all the way through, as Minthe was a shallow seductress and was punished for it. The woman's name escape me right now, but she genuinely loved Hades and hoped he would deliver her from her unhappy life. Hades could not save her in the end, but he did bless her, and made a new form of tree with the help of his wife. They always delighted in hearing it's music as it was a source of hope.
