Description This is me messing with shadows. I think they're a little dark. I also had to change the lighting.

cool,

I find that you can sometimes get nice result doing shadows using gradients.

I tried a few gradients but they turned out too white which didn't do well for the grass. I found the gradients best on an all white or one color surface but if you know any tricks please share!

Erm, I Assume that you're using photoshop, forgive me for I haven't ue it in a long time, but if you select the area that you want a shadow to fall and do a B&W gradient, then in the layings window at the top is a small box with a drop down menu, select something like "Multiply" or "Overlay", the best thing is to just play around with 'em for a while to test the effect.
I hope this is of some help.
all the best

Not bad at all.
I don't think they are too dark. Mabe a slight shade lighter would be better.

The way the sun's rays are hitting on the trees, I'm not sure the shadows would be at that angle .. maybe 20 degrees more east ?

But that's jsut me.
This is still an amazing render.
I like it.

Also, I find your skills are improving big time!
Those tuts have been helping

I am still trying to figure out how to figure out how to best place the shadows... the book doesn't elaborate unfortunately
