In terms of first day I began on this to finished it took me a bit longer than expected. The hours got a bit stretched across the months. But I think in the end, the result was worth it. Had a massive boost in productivity in this last week, managing to round up all the sketches and concept, then just fly through all the shading and details.
Great scope to work on in a fun way. Had fun designing dragons, for which this was a great excuse haha. (You might've remembered the sudden dragon designs from a while a go, that was mainly because of this piece)
Anywho, hope y'all enjoy the piece, and of course also for those who read are going to read the fanfic tied to it, enjoy the read

Your technical skill, sense of space, composition, lighting, color expressions and theme are all breathtaking! I feel like I'm seriously looking at a Renaissance piece. My eyes are continually drawn from one character to the next. I love how the dragon is placed right in the center of the brightest part of the sky: a figure of darkness surrounded by light. I also love the juxtaposition of the blinding blue/white sky with the simmering orange of the forest below. My eyes keep coming to rest on Twilight though. Maybe it's because her body position and expression express such a sense of pure helplessness, I just want to jump through my computer and fight that dragon myself. Maybe it's because of DAT ASS. (Yes, I went there)
My one and only critique would be this. Celestia's neck looks like it weighs as much as the rest of her body. I'm looking at the official vectors and I know she has a big neck, but it just seems a little beefy here.
Other than that, this is perfect.

I know I've not done a Critique in a while. So i thought of doing one. So excuse my sloppy Critiquing skills. Even though I haven't read the fanfic yet. So excuse me on that as well.
For one thing, when I first pulled this up on my computer I first thought was what a scene that we have here. I thought that this showed a whole collage of emotion and suspense.
The shading and highlights that are added in this picture are well done. It sure gives the picture the emotion and form that it needs.
For what I can tell this was put together well for the viewer to at least get the idea at whats going on, even for those who haven't quite read the fanfic yet. Thats what I thought anyways.
So, I enjoyed this picture vary much and it really made an impression in my mind.

Interesting... the first thing I was reminded of when seeing this image, was the "End of an Era" cinematic from Final Fantasy XIV. So I got this image of a losing battle where Celestia uses the last of her power to save Twilight...
