Description New addition for my First Contact War universe.

I imagine the "weirdness" of this creature is nothing new for this world. Had fun creating this one

After almost 4 hours of stream crawling through sketches, uninspired enough to work any of them out, I finally ended up with a hunting party hunting a beast which hit the right spot in order to continue actually making something. Lets design a creature ok?!

Things happen, I'd say. Beautiful things. Just look at that majestic beast. No words needed right?

Anyhow, I guess this is also a reminder that Gryphons are carnivores, and also hunters. (depending on the type perhaps)

i always like artists and fanfic writers who remember MLP is a fantasy world. so all doors are open from wacky to creepy creatures hiding beyond the borders of equestria.

I like your thinking! who doesn't love designing strange creatures and things that go bump in the night?

So is that thing completely original, or is it based on one of the many lesser known mythological creatures?

No idea if it incidentally resembles some existing creatures, I didn't use reference as I thought this all up from imagination on the go.

Oh it probably resembles something from somewhere I would imagine. Not that I'm saying you took it from somewhere, it's just you know what they say, "there are no new ideas". It's still a cool creature though, so nice job.

Not a creature you want to meet in a dark forest.

Wow! You surely made a great series with that universe.

Amazing work.

Random beast I came up with. The idea is it's along the lines of a parasitic and/or symbiotic relationship.
The worm has the controls I suppose, but they both do get to live. The worm can maybe digest more, while the lizard provides better movement options.
It was a fun little thought I had and ended up making.

I've been on the internet for too long, despair and fury stemming from nearing end of that creature almost made me cry.
Great job though, that WIP could make a great example of lighting tutorial.

It looks like some type of giant parasite has taken over the body of that quadrupedal creature, erupting out of its mouth after growing too large for the body to contain it. *shudders*

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AssasinMonkey In reply to txteclipse [2014-10-12 21:03:56 +0000 UTC]

That's the idea behind it yes. Although I imagined it primarily as a symbiotic relationship, it does border on parasitic, or could be just considered parasitic as well.
It's almost like those tongue replacing bugs/parasites, that replace the tongues of fish.
In this case I guess the worm replaces the mouth... eyes... brian perhaps... digestive system, and in return gets legs ad an additional body to use.

AssasinMonkey In reply to BoneSatellite [2014-10-12 21:01:47 +0000 UTC]

Some of those gryphons had very long faces when they learned about that.

Can't help but wonder how it would actually taste, though.

Great work with the beast design.
What makes me wonder every time you submit a picture, though, are the names of the submissions. They sometimes make little sense, being puzzles in their own right. Of course, it's your pictures and they're good and their names don't affect that and never will, but it is still puzzling me.
I wonder if you could run a little funny experiment - use a random phrase generator and choose the first result that fits the FCW setting, then either draw it/something related to it or name a picture with it. Even just for a sketchlist night, it could be a fun little exercise.

AssasinMonkey In reply to TwilightIsMagic [2014-10-12 21:00:56 +0000 UTC]

Hehe yea, the names sometimes end up being mysteries, probably hard to really solve on their own. (In this case I guess I had a bit of multi sided meaning behind it)

The idea of random generator is actually an interesting one, I've written that down. Can be fun to try and base a piece on the title, rather than the other way around.

Eeyup, you've seen that right.
I consider it a form of symbiotic creature, although perhaps bordering on parasitic. (or kinda actually perhaps just parasitic when thinking about it)
The worm keeps its host alive while the lizard(host) provides the movement and other body features.
Some theories about the worm being able to digest certain things the lizard can't.

That makes a lot of sense, reminds me a little ofΒ a biological voltron,Β this webcomic , and various parasites and a couple of symbiotic fish that do the opposite (no links posted and for your own sanity DON'T google it).
