"Fine" is a wonderful artwork by RubyHoof, demonstrating confidence and familiarity with colour relationships, and gesture through brushwork.
The subject is placed centrally in a pyramidal structure, suggesting power and aggression, perhaps straddling the viewer into submission. Though there is control and power physically, the energetic rendering of the hair and shifted weight of the torso acts as a chaotic cognitive counterpoint.
The combination of a dark ground accompanied with an aggressive posture, juxtaposed with an otherwise cheery expression, gives a sense of unease; particularly with subject's gaze. The subject has a constricted and dilated pupil for each eye respectively, suggesting emotional turmoil and mental instability.
The apparent control and dominance in the portrayal of the figure shows that there is a deceptive assertion that everything is fine. But this is only a smokescreen.
