Description
The main reason why i made this pack was because i found the shapes of minor bodies in space engine to be ugly and not well generated, they do not have proper center of masses, rotation, or general shapes.The objects in this pack reflect the common shapes of objects found in our solar system. along with proper rotation and direction of rotation that naturally occur to objects of irregular shapes.
This texture pack is required for my object Generator fav.me/db8e08f (unless you use it otherwise)
feel free to use the textures in this pack for any solar systems you make or addons etc.
This texture pack for space engine includes:
Small world textures:
Holes
Cracked

Minor body shapes:
Block
Bong
Boot
Bun

I love the name of those minor body shapes. Turd is probably my favorite one out of all of them.

Hi. I have a couple questions.
1. This might be a dumb question, but will non-randomly generated objects with randomly generated terrain (such as asteroids in our solar system or moons like Namaka or MK 2) be effected?
2. Is it possible to edit shapes? (for example, I want 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko to be 'duck shaped' specifically)
3. I'm having trouble getting it to work. Am I doing something wrong? I have several other of your addons (like Uranus and its major satellites) and they work perfectly. However, I put this one into Space Engine 0.980's addons folder and it just isn't working. What am I doing wrong? Is there another step rather than just copy and pasting?
Thank you

the model pack sadly only works with a generator that calls for the models specifically. if you just drag and drop into space engine's addons folder it will do absolutely nothing sadly. i originally posted them to work with my generator here; this is a tool that allows you to create custom asteroid belts for your own solar systems ^^
you can create your own solar systems by hand and use these textures, or modify objects within our own solar system by hand to use my default textures too.
the point of my default textures pack is for people to use them however they like.
think of it not like a finished painting that you put into space engine, but the brushes to make your own paintings with.
Sadly for objects like 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko it is impossible to make its model using space engines surface rendering at the moment, since 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko has overhangs and areas that simply would not work. though i hear that space engine will be using 3D meshes instead in the near future, making it a lot easier to make custom asteroids in the first place = ) (plus the next version will have 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko in it too! ) so it may be worth just waiting ^^

Thanks for responding
How would I modify objects in our Solar System with your textures and shapes from this? Sorry but I'm kind of clueless
Also I need help using the generator. I'm not really sure how to get the generated code and how it works.
Thank you
Also I just wanted to add your work is amazing, keep it up. I especially love your Haumea which you included the rings and the red spot, which most interpretations don't.

Sorry for the late very response ><
as for getting the textures and models onto existing solar system bodies, you need only to modify their code in the SC files ^^
here is an example:
Surface
{
DiffMap "Default/Colour/AirlesWorlds/White" // this is the file location of the colour textures
BumpMap "Default/Bump/Asteroids/Bun" // this is the file location of the shape of the object, so you can mix and match colour and shape together.
BumpTileSize 256 // you don't need to worry about this
DiffTileBorder 0 // or this.
BumpOffset 9.0375 // this i tend to make the same as BumpHeight, it just looks better in space engine compared to the other objects
BumpHeight 9.0375000 // this defines the minimum and maximum altitude of the surface difference in Km. so, in this case the deepest valley will be 0 km, and the tallest hill will be about 9 Km
Exposure 0.07 // this is the amount of light the texture will appear as, an exposure of 1 is fully bright. and an exposure of 0 is completely black, i tend to make this value the same as the objects Albedo.
}
As far as the actual generator works, it is rather complicated and i really should make it easier one day. basically though, the 1st page is the input values of what you want, and the 2nd page is the output values where you copy the generated code into a .SC file.
hopefully this helps. again, im really sorry for the extremely late response ;
And thank you ! im really glad you like my work, even if i have kinda neglected it. i hope i can do more in the future.

If there are round asteroids, does that mean they are asteroids similar in shape to Ceres?

yes they should be like that = )

Also here is a cool image of Ceres I saw earlier.
