You have my full encouragement! jump in head first! hehe

Though, im a bit of a hypocrite saying that since i have been losing my enthusiasm to do any art myself, sadly.

Feedback about the catalog script: with SE you should use Hapke, not Lommel.

Otherwise, great map!

Wow,that's incredibly detailed!Β Really a good imagine for what MUSE space probe will see in 2045. Will you make Titania and Umbriel texture before 2017? I want to use these textures in my Celestia pack.

Wow, I though I had commented on this already! It looks epic! Great job painting here! I should really try these in Space Engine.
And I should really learn how to make maps for SE myself in the first place.

Astra-Planetshine In reply to John-AM [2016-08-10 23:09:08 +0000 UTC]

thanks!! i need to update these because space engine has a MUCH easier way to install addons now. like 1000x easier.
and hey if you ever need any help with making textures feel free to ask = )

Ohhh, I had been doing other things and didn't even realize that SE had an update.
Oh! I'm certain I'll take you up on that if I ever get around to trying it! =) I still need to try your Blender planet-painter thing too actually.

cool, id love to see what you would make with it.
redoing the addons to fit the new easier style would be easy but boring for the moons. so i will probably hold off on them for a bit. i haven't even started Titania yet. >.<

I am honestly disappointed by how under-explored Uranus and Neptune are. This is a very realistic map of Oberon's hypothetical and unexplored other hemisphere. I like it.

me too.. everyone is still going nuts for Pluto meanwhile these two entire gas giant systems are just ignored. moons and all it seems. but i notice there is a little more suggestions going around for a Uranus orbiter. hope it happens soon within our lifetime!
I'm glad you like the Oberon map!! = )

Will you ever create a Uranus moons reworked complete texture pack?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Astra-Planetshine In reply to urchicken [2016-06-11 00:17:55 +0000 UTC]

probably at one point yes. i want Orbiter Space Flight Simulator 2016 to come out so i can export my 3D textures to it, and Space engine will have a new addon system soon too so i will have to change that up. i also want to model some minor moons of Uranus too when the time comes. by then hopefully Orbiter will be out and i will be done all the moons and just put them out in one big pack or something.

Finally Oberon! Good work Snowfall, looks pretty realistic and it's consistent with the known regions. Some details of the terrain seem a bit odd, but the coloring is great. After converting it into Celestia, Oberon also seemed a bit yellowish, maybe it's because of our sun?
Anyway, your link for Celestia is the Space Engine addon thought I mention it, but it just used the original textures.

Thanks! i am happy to put it out finally. lol
ok i will fix the link thanks for letting me know = )
yeah our sun seems to make things yellow ish = o which should not be IRL

8192x4096? Those are impressive numbers and a bit too detailed for even my uses. I'm sure I'll cook something up soon with it. Do you happen to know the actual height numbers on the map? Lowest and highest elevations?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Astra-Planetshine In reply to 1Wyrmshadow1 [2016-06-11 00:38:00 +0000 UTC]

believe me, when viewing the surface close up in 3D it still looks low resolution lol. depends on how you are viewing it though i guess. in Celestia it looks better with smaller texture sizes. and in space engine the biggest resolution is best. i still cant wait to do landings in orbiter some time, just to watch the mountains go by below.

as for the lowest and highest elevations that's a tricky one, i just set it until it looked like the voyager photos. that ended up being 23 Km i think from the lowest parts to the highest parts. the value may be lower or higher but oh well.
