Textures are used by loads of Designers, Digital artists and Photo-Manipulators. You would know how important and useful these references and resources are if you tried it out. By giving this a FEATURE, which is just what a DD is, others are brought to attention this pretty texture. So either leave a Constructive Criticism or gtfo. kthx

Textures are just as important as "9 hour" works of art too.
Many textures take hours of work and tons of effort to make. (Not to mention the amazing photos they provide just for us artists) :/ Don't think this in not worthy of a DD. What an incredibly rude and immature thing to say! Would you like it if someone said that about your art?
Grow up, think before you write, and learn some goddamn respect!

Stocks must be useful to be DDed. That is what the stock gallery is for, to be used.
Stop with the bullshit of 'baw someone took 9 hours to do a work and you get a DD by taking a shot in 5 minutes' hell, this story gets tiring.
The focus of the stock gallery is DIFFERENT than the others, for fuck's sake. Learn what the galleries ARE for before criticizing. Not all galleries are meant to have pretty pictures, some, like the Stock and dAr galleries are more to have a practical use for artists.

Why are you asking Astralseed?
She didn't have any control over it. Not to mention that your comment was quite rude. "In my opinion, this only took 5 seconds so it shouldn't be recognized." For one thing, you have no idea how much time it took.
For another thing...when is that ever a nice thing to say to someone? If you get a DD, would you want people coming to say "Omg, that is so lame, why the heck is this a DD, I hate it!" No? Okay then.

It just dissapoints me, that you see plenty of artists that put over 9 hours of effort into their work, and people who spend five minutes taking an image like this get the spotlight.

I don't see how you think this image would only take five minutes to take. I think it'd be very difficult to take a photo of something so intricate and small, have it be perfect, and probably take 20 other shots. And since it's clearly ice crystals, I'm going to assume the photographer was sitting out in the cold, freezing, to get this image and share it with those who would appreciate it.
On another note, do not complain on the artist's page about them getting a DD. They didn't ask for it. If you would like to complain, go to the suggester's page.

If it makes you feel any better.. taking this photo was a huge pain in the butt for me.. I was working with a genre I am used to working with. I am usually a landscape photographer. But beside that.. I didn't even have a nifty macro lens to work with.. I was dealing with a cheap reversal ring that left me hovering less than an inch away from the frozen window as I stood on my tippy toes (since I'm very short) trying desperately not to breathe while taking shots because the slightest of movement meant I would lose the shots focus (which most of this shot isn't even in, which is why it is a texture and not on my main account) So there I was standing in the freezing cold being uncomfortable, letting my camera flare up my carpal tunnel to take some interesting shots of something that is new to me so I can broaden my horizon.. and hey.. not all shots turned out great.. but I came inside and loaded them onto the computer and shuffled through them and pulled them into Photoshop to make them worthwhile.
Well, heck I could have just said.. these shots are crap and left them to rot on my hard drive.. but I decided to share them and before I did I did spruce this up a bit as well.. this isn't just some snapshot that was tossed together carelessly. And for the record.. if you browse my main gallery on my `Astralseed account.. I put effort into my art that goes beyond my stock account which is just meant as resources for other artists. So why oh why be disappointed that my resource that time and effort was put into (in some strange way)is getting 24 hours in the spotlight, if even I can laugh at the fact that this is the 4th time I've gotten a DD and I've still not gotten one for a real piece of visual art. The fact remains, DDs don't mean much.. they are just a 24 hour feature. As you can see, this piece clearly didn't get all that much exposure from it.

Doing a retelling of "The thing" from 1982, I could use this for the cover.
