Description
My first attempt at pixel art. I've used a reference and tried to discover some techniques regarding the shading and the natural tree shape.I'm planning on doing more of these, possibly making a flash game later.
Constructive critique is highly appreciated.
Used 10 colors.

pretty heavy reference. what's the point? better to make shitty trees through your own observations of them than copy all the shapes from someone else's tree. not that it's immoral or anything, just that it isn't a very good way of learning how to make a tree yourself.

It was my first attempt. I tried to come out with original shapes but I guess I was afraid to stray from the original model to much. I'm still doing my best to be original though.

Amazing pixel tree! Looks like it could be in "Frogatto" or something similar.

Very nice! I happened to see your original attempt browsing the boards of PixelJoint, it came out great!

Thank you. Although, that wasn't my first attempt, it was my reference. I know it came out pretty close to the original, but every pixel was done by me. I just had to "steal" the color palette, shapes and techniques since it was my first attempt at pixel art. Should I also add a link to the original in the description?

I dont see why not - I know Im trying to get better at that kind of thing too, and the more available reference there is, the better! XD

Hehe, PJ is awesome. It actually inspired me to start pixeling in the first place.

softer colors to the clouds and sprite them with lots of "balls", if you don't know what i mean look around for references.
a clearer lightsource and another green and brown color for highlighting some parts'd help a lot I think.
The background is a little bit empty. Of course it's sky, but a horizont and some more details there would make the piece more interesting.

Wow, it's finished! All the pretty branches and volumes and all the top-of-the-mountain rocks are so pretty Clouds a little flat though, but who cares when there's so much detail in the tree, hehe! The birds are a nice touch too
