Description The air, obese with flames, the human's shape unfurls. Its marrow screamed blood, spilling like a crude oil. Its teeth gazed at our skulls, coiling our thoughts in crowning throes. But we refuse to fold. This humble crib shall be your grave, you ill-omen aberration.

ideation + process:
For inspiration, a lot of it was from Wayne Barlowe in terms of setting up the piece.

Not only did I really love his designs and texture from both his alien and hell series, but what I also really enjoyed was his use of imagery on how he divided colors simply. It's something I tried to emulate with the juxtapose body-types here as they overlapped each other and identifying them with contrasting colors. Although, most of my frustration lied on how to "ground" each of the bodies. It's obvious to some I'm sure, but I don't really do backgrounds often and it's for no other reason than that I just don't know how to make them, or light the characters properly in them. This one I tried. I especially tried to just "buckle-down" trying to ignore the "just move one" feeling when working on a piece. I'm happy I did, because I started adding little extra bits throughout the piece that I didn't quit plan, like trying to paint liquified ground, the crackling embers, and much more investment on texture-work since I believe I was pretty weak at that as well.

For context of the scene, I wanted to depict "the Forged" fighting in the front lines against the human-being, Demeus. The "first end" of this world, the Dracofae towers have fallen, the Ruined shores are crimson and calcified, and these metal caskets are all that's left.

I had an old idea with "the Forged" that I wanted to introduce for some time now. Some of you may know of "Resurrections" as the towering metal beings. But the "smaller" ones are new, in which I call the "Traumanulls." Well, maybe not completely new but just a recycling of an old design that I wanted to give more purpose to. I wanted to create a support infantry of sorts, specifically to aid in the longevity of the Resurrections by dispersing and controlling their kinetic energy. The trauma nulls would be specifically designed to focus, redirect, or simply absorb their kinetic energy so that [1] nothing goes to waste and they can utilize the energy and reduce blind damage. And [2] keep operation of the resurrection active for as long as possible.
