Description
First of all I must state that this is official Mass Effect concept art and that I take no credit for it. This is copyrighted material. All I've really done is photoshop the male Turian to what I believe a female Turian would look like. Now that that's out of the way, I'll explain my thought process. First thing I tried to do is make her a bit daintier than the male Turian, for this I basically just barely shrunk her and slimmed down some of her features. Then I rounded out some of the spikier bits, which I thought was too much of a male trait. I also figured that the larger mandibles and carapace might both be distinctive male features used to impress females, therefor they would be downplayed in females. I also took the opportunity to give her a smaller jaw.
Also, based on Garrus's line in ME2 "If you were a Turian I'd be complementing your fringe or your hips", so these two features should be the characteristic features in females I suppose, therefore a curved down the fringe a bit to make it appear more like hair. Then I slightly widened and thickened the hips and thighs, a clearly distinctive female feature in most animals.
And finally, I added another make-up square to show her all prettied up. I think that really helps bring it all together and really make her look girly.
And that's it, this should be my last ME gender switch submission, though I am considering designing some clothes and armor for the females in order to help accentuate their womanhood, especially in those that need it like the Krogan.

Yeah, when I say yours I almost didn't go through with mine, but you missed a couple of details I wanted to see done.

Nice work. I imagine that is what female turians will look like, and there are no human-centric influences

Not sure what you mean by human-centric, but thanks ^^

What I meant by that is you didn't just cut and paste a woman's body parts on a turian and said "that's a female turian". Someone did a similar thing with a female krogan, I think they put a slightly smaller krogan head on a woman's body

Really good manip, and I applaud the changes; they look about spot-on to what I'd have imagined. However, the one with makeup just looks hideous. I'm sure different species have different ideas of beauty, so there's no need to make a turian "girly" by our standards. From a biological standpoint, however, the above changes make sense.

Thanks, but in regards to the make-up, its mostly there just for fun, but if those marking were any other colour I don't think you'd be making the same comment . The Eye shadow might have been too much though xD. As for the jewelry, I actually think it suits her.

No, I'm making the comment because you specifically stated you did that to give her a "girly" look. Not all girls look like that, and it's based on human standards besides, so it gets under my skin regardless of what color makeup you slapped on her. I do like the jewelry though, and I could actually see piercings going for some members of both genders. They'd look awesome with sparkly things hanging from their mandibles or fringe.

Lol, you're right, it was a low blow as far as clichΓ©s go.

Don't worry about it. It's a beautiful job overall. The changes make sense and the photomanip is quite skillful. I'm totally stealing your design for my personal canon. XP
