I simply wanted to do some more practicing, this time attempting to draw a cartoon character in a more realistic way. As you can see, it went horribly wrong when I decided to stay up until three o'clock in the morning and drank three cups of coffee.Also, don't look at it longer than thirty seven seconds, I won't be held accountable for the consequences if you do.

If we're being realistic, why does he have human proportions?

He spends most if not all his time getting around on two feet, evolution would provide him with a body that is more fitting for bipedal locomotion. And since, as a cartoon, Sonic's body looks similar to that of a human, his proportions would be similar to that of human as well.
