For some reason, I find this piece strongly reminiscent of a glass bead-making technique, called "millefiori". The layered glass, when cut, would allow the creation of patterns very similar to the central "great spot" in this fractal... ...so I can't help thinking that this is the kind of thing those bead-makers would get to see if they were granted a vision of the progress of the arts, in the future, to which they could relate.
Okay, so that was a weird and random thought, I know... ...but that's one of the things that makes this more than just another beautiful fractal, for me.
