is design waves an real project? O.O I dont know the agentur or company but if its an agentur then this logo is better as the second version. If its a company then the second version ^^ this logo looks more creative so its good for an agency.

I always use Ps for sketches [after pen and paper].
When the client like logo sketch I do it on Il -bad habit
