Description This one more or less stumbled over me when I was on a phototour through Lueneburg in Germany. Since our rabbits are usually brown, I suspect this little fella took a run without permission. Would also explain why it allowed me to come close enough to take some nice shoots.

What a lovely photo! And what pretty markings! I've never seen a rabbit with markings like that.

If you suspect it belongs to someone, though, I hope they get the little guy (or girl) back.

Great shot, though! ^^

Thank you.
Well I can honestly say I've seen such markings before, but certainly not on a wild rabbit.

And depending on the history, no matter if the owner loves the little one, I suspect this one is enjoying its freedom very much. I just hope it'll survive no matter how.

You're welcome. ^^

I've never really had a lot of encounters with rabbits, other than the few that hopped on my lawn in the past. But they were always white or brown, so I can see what you're saying.

Haha, I bet it is. Perhaps he'll be one of the swiftest, cunning "wild" rabbits out there.

I've never seen a white one between the wild, only brown, but that's just as well.

Yeah well, who knows how the little one will develop.

White ones are very common around here. But I suppose they're different everywhere.

Haha, this is true.

Could they be by any chance snowbunnies? Because that would make sense. I live at a place that in the last few years has seen less and less snow, so it's normal that the rabbits don't need to change their furr colour.

I'd say yes, but I see these guys in the summer or early spring, usually. So I think that's just how they are naturally. But I was thinking the same thing for your side. If the climate is warm and not as snowy, I assume they don't have to do much to adapt to their surroundings.

Agreed.

Or someone decided to dump it! Certainly not a wild bunny by birth!

Well, I really hope it's not been dumped. Of course I also have no idea how long it's been out in the wild, though if it's been there since winter, then I would say it survived well enough so far.

Just look at all those tasty dried leaves - plenty of bunny food!

But I bet now that fresh grass is coming up again, that's even better.

Yeah, there, at least. The ground is still frozen and snow covered around here, but thawing slowly! We have a wild bunny who comes by and eats the seed I leave out for the birds, and we have snowbanks so deep and so long, it had dug a tunnel under the snow to be able to get to it without predators seeing it!

I haven't seen a lot of snow all winter, so the animals did not have to fight through snow or frozen ground. It's been like this for years, no snow, or at least not longer than a day and only cold for people like me who detest the cold anyway. When I was a child it had been far different, we had snow for sledging and it was cold long enough for the lakes to freeze and we could go ice skating.
Anywhere, currently we have to fight with a big storm, but other when that spring is coming.
