Description My third silversmithing project - a 4 cm diameter sterling silver tree.
Given how much silver leaf I use in my lampwork beads, I think I could really use a silver tree.

It was quite a saga to pierce out all the branches. I killed 4 saw blades in the process, and then another one while cutting the loop, which apparently isn't bad. Thankfully I had my talented teacher on hand to help neaten things up, and solder on the loop for me.
(Yes... my soldering is still terrible. I end up with solder flying all over the piece I'm working on, the workshop, hapless passers-by, etc.)

Hand-finished castings of this design are available in my etsy shop: [link]

Hehe, ta. They were quite a saga, those branches. And now I've got requests for two more... methinks I'm going to get lots of practice with the saw very soon.

Oooohhh beautiful
I know how much work this is, although I never made sth with silver I can imagine how difficult it is to cut out all the branches with a tiny saw
you did it really amazing - it looks like you never did anything else

Oh wow, thank you! I'm a total beginner at silver, so it really warms my heart and ego when I get such lovely compliments.
Yep, it was quite time consuming. I breathed a sigh of relief when it was done... and now someone at the market wants one, too!

Awww Hehe, it does seem to appeal to people! I must definitely speed up my sawing... this one took almost 8 hours to complete, everything included. I'm hoping to get my bench set up in the next month or two, then I can work at home.

you need to expand you garage sometime soon

my workspace absolutely needs some upgrades - the storage place sucks and my working table seems smaller everyday and I would be happy to have my little oven right beside my table, otherwise I need to run into the kitchen every now and then

Hehe, thankfully there is still some space... provided I clear it of the assorted rubbish first. Oy.

Hmm, wouldn't it be nice if studios grew whenever we needed them too? Like, overnight, and without expensive construction etc?

that sounds just like harry potter, where every place looks small from the outside but when you step inside it magically provides more space
very convenient - you could carry your car in your handbag and never need to worry about a parking place

I've often wished I could carry my car in my handbag or pocket! That would be the coolest thing ever.

me too, maybe one could have more then one handbag-car at once
like matchbox cars (kiddy toys ), a cabrio and a jeep and a limousine, and....
that would be awesome

Lol! That would be funny. Then one could play garages with them when they're not in use.
