I use mechanical pencils, F, HB, 2B lead, and I use a soft bristle watercolor brush in little circles for gently rubbing the graphite together in places where I want it smoother

You liked their original teeth? Well, the kids sure won't when they grow up and see a portrait of them on the wall with snaggled, horrid teeth. I never draw original teeth on anyone except celebs, since their teeth have already been corrected LOL

Yeah, thats why I didn't do the mouth and teeth "realistically" I just hinted at them. With the exception of tiny babies and their cute tiny bits of teeth, I do not like drawing snaggle teeth of young children because when they grow up and see the portrait hanging on the wall they'll HATE those teeth, so I just draw a suggestion of what it might look like when those teeth come in. It makes them look a little older, but I haven't had anyone complain yet ^_^

I actually don't blend the hair until the very end, I'll sometimes run a soft bit of tissue or a watercolor brush over it when all is said and done. As for the teeth, yeah, I hate drawing snaggle teeth of young children cuz I envision them 20 years from now throwing the portrait away cuz they hate the reminder of how their teeth looked O__o
