Description
Watercolor for a friend's nursery. (She likes cats.) This is one of two panels I did for two separate (3-opening) frames. Here's the other panel: athenatt.deviantart.com/art/Ki…I am not very good at watercolor. I'm not good at drawing cutesy things. I also don't often make stuff up 100% from my head, like I did here. So this was a good artistic stretch for me on many levels.
It was fun, each little 3.5x5 square only took about an hour. There were six squares - three per frame. I scanned it with the frame cuz I'd already taped them in and then realized I'd forgotten to scan them *d'oh* LOL

It was sooo fun to do. I don't get a chance to paint, much less do art straight out of my head so this was so fun

One day, I will develop a patent, and sell it to Honda for millions. When that happens, I will buy your smoked out cats, and get a portrait for someone I like, or dislike... depends on how much artistic liberty you put in... Keep up your art on DA. I know people are cunts (to be polite) and nick stuff, but whenever you have a shitty day about it. Just remember I'm here.
Maybe because I'm a bit strange, maybe because I'm a bit/extremely nerdy... But for whatever reason, you know that there is at least one person (even though I mock you from time-to-time) who would be genuinely sad if you ever stopped posting. Whether its something like these cats hitting the bong-pipe, or a better-than-reality portrait, I always enjoy spending a minute or two being jealous and admiring what you've done.

I have two things to say. First: Every few months or so I write emails/letters to a number of people I've gotten to know over the years. Sometimes they even write back! I like the idea of writing for no particular reason, so if you want letters or emails from me for no particular reason leave me an address or email as you see fit. Or not 
And the second. I'm going to talk to my Girlfriends Sisters Boyfriend about getting a drawing for their 21st. From you naturally.I can send you the picture whenever you want, but I need to talk to Will before I can confirm anything, because we're uni students and running into negative funding will happen mid-march.

What kind of watercolour paper, as in the brand?

I use a "block" or pad of Arches 140lb, cold press, rough surface. I believe it's 100% rag. I like that it is bound on all four sides - prevents curling and eliminates the need for taping sheets down. It is not as easy to remove from the block as they claim

I WANT TO KNOW... have you tried Arches hot press? Based on my style of work, should I go for it? I just... don't want to get a block of it and be like, well shit, it's not my thing 
I use mounting sheets, or mounting tape, to do my own mounting, aye. Arches doesn't curl that much at all.

Have not tried hot press. You can call a distributor and they will send you a group of sample sheets!

I'm very clumsy at it but I do like doing it; should really do it lots more, maybe I'd lighten up on my death hold on the brush LOL
