I think what i like most about your work is that I can recognize it in the crowd. You do such beautiful and realistic portraits but there is a definite style in your work. Especially in the hair. I can't stop looking at it. I'm sure they'll love this!

May I ask how big this is? the original drawing I mean?

The drawing is 11x14. I drew it large because it's just their faces, I wanted them to have some kind of bang for their buck, you know? *grin* BUT the drawback to that was I realized after I started I couldn't see any details in the photo, and I spent longer on this drawing than I have on any drawing this last year as I carefully worked and reworked spots, trying to draw what I couldn't see. It was certainly a workout for the artistic side of my brain, that's for sure!!

piece at that! i know how hard it is to put yourself into one of those. you really have to reach down for that little

*grin* awww... you're too busy doing all other forms of brilliant art, don't worry, pencil always waits patiently. It'll be there for you when you are ready. I'm glad you understand the difficulties of commissions. It's hard to create when it's not something soul inspired, so for this one, I tried hard as I was drawing it to imagine it bringing a smile to the person who is buying it for a gift for her relatives, and I know she will frame it beautifully (she has all the others I've done for her) and that made me smile, too, because knowing someone will appreciate the art really goes a long way to helping me want to try really hard. I wish I could've done better for her, but the reference wasn't very clear (it was dark and blurry) but it was the best she could get me, poor dear, so I did my very best with what I had. I hope it brings smiles to those for whom it is intended. If it does, why, then, yes, I believe there's a little transcendence in store for me yet. ^__^

No no it's just a sketch. There's not a lot of contrasts, darks/lights, etc. And because the photo was fuzzy and small I couldn't see details so I just fudged a bit by having lots of sections all be one shade. And there's no background to speak of. See? It's not a full fledged drawing, I promise. *grin*
