Description
Just something I made on Easter holiday. I spent my holiday mostly skiing at Iso-SyΓΆte, Lapland. And of course being with my friend. But I had some spare time so I drew. The cottage was so small for 5 people, so I couldn't wave my legs witout kicking somebodys chin. -,-'
And yes, I realised that thing looks like chocobo, but it's supposed to be phoenix.
Originally I thought that I could draw rider for her, but I was too lazy. ^.-

I like how neat the lineart is. The shading is very light and pleasant and the feather detailing is very nice.

Thank you. : ) The shading took forever, but at the same time it was fun. No thinking required. : D

I'm quite sure the chocobo was modeled after the phoenix.

Wow, good point. : D
But then again I think all the birds look the same. xD

Well, good thing phoenixes and chocoboes are barely birds! I'd even classify phoenixes as 1/10 dragon.

At least they're not real birds. xD And I do have to say that I would know something was a bit off if there was a phoenix sitting on my birdfeeder.
1/10 dragon? That's interesting point of view. Well, I guess that makes sense, phoenixes, not to mention chocobos are definetly not just birds.

Mhm; if you were to consider the point of view of chocoboes, some of them can breathe fire, heal people, shoot acid and other such things not so different from a dragon but now I think we're getting away from the picture.

Nowadays I try to imagine it red, which helps with the chocobo-matter. :'D
And thank you!

It's funny how Phoenixes are associated with the color red. Well, most of the phoenixes I've seen are potrayed at least reddish.

Hm. Depends. The only place I really think needs more detailing is the wing. You might want to add a few more feathers. That's it.
You could try working with it a little more, but on a copy! Don't ruin the original!

Atmel In reply to randomjunk123 [2009-01-04 12:55:04 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, that might improve the picture, seeing that it could use some more details. But I'm a bit worried it would make the picture look untidy as the small feathers might not completely fit in the picture.
Main reason why I left the wing short on details was that I wanted the phoenix's gaze to have a clear path to the right. It's supposed to make the picture a bit lighter too. : )
