GELNOR-CLASS

So, first off, as Atolm already knows, all of my Trek stuff is set in an alternate Trek universe, so in my fix, the Cardassians never joined the Dominion. They are one of two major allies of the Entomalian Empire, the other ally being the Tholians. That having been said, here’s a little background I made up for the ship.

For quite a while, the Cardassians had felt that they were largely being ignored in the technological aspect of their alliance with the Entomalians, with the Tholians being the most active reapers of the technological benefits. Finally, following Entomalian Queen T’Zek’s victorious restoration, the Entomalians began to relax their restrictions on technology-sharing, wishing to share the spoils of victory with all the allied races of the Alpha and Beta quadrants.

Among these were two new joint Entomalian-Cardassian ships, the Gelnor-Class (pictured here), and the larger Jetal-Class. Roughly 272 meters in length, the Gelnor is meant to replace the somewhat aging Hideki-Class, which saw heavy losses during the Dominion War, and the Big Borg Battle. The Gelnor boasts Entomalian phasers, photon torpedoes, and a vastly improved warp drive system, which increases warp field efficiency and increases the maximum warp speed to 9.95, making the Gelnor the fastest Cardassian ship in service. The computer has also been replaced with an Entomalian unit, greatly improving processing speed. The Gelnor was constructed at the Letrekka Shipyards.
