Capsule: Corellian Engineering Corporation has made a lot of successes, but when they failed, they failed big. Singularity Starworks (SSW) was created in the Outer Rim by a former CEC Engineer named Mend Halford who was fired as a scapegoat for the horrific failure that the YT-2000 was due to being rushed out by the CEC Managers, who obviously refused to let the blame hit them. Taking with him a number of other CEC Engineers and Clerks, who had previously “mislaid” a huge amount of components for freighter manufacturing, not the least of which was a small mobile shipyard intended for the Republic Navy (which then turned into the Imperial Navy, which allowed for such, “data errors”), SSW has made a name for itself making “bespoke” freighter for “interested parties”, mostly crime syndicates who need smuggling and blockade runners, along with Outer Rim yachts for corrupt planetary officials, all based off a common frame, rather than mass produced production models.

The JF-717T (Tactical) model, however, was developed for the Rebel Alliance in particular after a lot of late night negotiations, drunken nights, and a really bad cantina bet. The basic frame is the same as all other SSW designs, but the rest of the systems are made from the finest of components they had available to them. The engines from a YT-2000, minus the design failures and restrictions required by Imperial ordinances being the major one, along with the rather heavy firepower provided by the turret and the front-mounted laser cannons for defense. In addition, the craft can take underbelly-mounted aftermarket YT-series external cargo pods, which halves the ship’s sublight speed, but can be ejected in 25-ton cargo pods for small-scale resupply. In addition, the two side-mounted and standardized docking ports allow for resupply, refueling, and moving of pilots from starfighters in the field, which gave the Rebel Alliance a flexibility that the Imperial Navy could not match. In addition, the ship was also used for SpecOps purposes to put in fire squads (10 troopers), with extensive support in way of cargo, as part of it’s blockade runner duties.

After the fall of the Empire, the JF-717T was relegated to the Outer Rim, where they were positioned typically anyhow, and used to supply local (or merely “aligned”) planetary facilities and outlying outposts. A number of Starfighter Squadrons, however, were able to… “acquire” their own JF-717T as a logistics vessel, search and rescue, and otherwise “utility” craft, which just so happened to be able to keep up with their hyperspace abilities.
