Just wanted to say that this is really marvelous ... did a little browsing through your portfolio, and it's really nice.
Is there any mixed media in this one? If not, how did you manage to get those whisker-things to be quite so light? Surely you didn't just draw around them?!! Also, the blue bands in the hait/tentacle-thingies ... those look really great. I like the way you've layered the colours and such...
I do mostly monochromatic stuff, for exactly the reason that it seems so difficult to get colours like you've found here. Photorealism isn't a problem for me ... just the new meduim of coloured pencils. How long have you been doing colour like this?

Predators mouth anatomy is actually based on the scorpions mandibles; if you get an opportunity to see one feeding, it's really trippy,and comes highly recommended.
