Admittedly I am being a bit over-dramatic 
But for future reference, this is mistletoe , a parasitic plant that grows in clumps on trees, the one under which people tend to kiss because naturally it grows above head height, whereas holly is a prickly bush (though it does sometimes grow into a tree) used for general seasonal decoration due to its berries' bright festive colours. We must save the meaning of these words before they go the way of buzzard, buffalo, and indigo.
If you're unsure of what I mean by that, this is a buzzard , this is a buffalo (this is a bison ), and this is indigo (despite what Crayola and the html code may say).
