Description
Duke Nukem is a really cool game in multiplayer mode. I wish they'd hurry up and release the new PC game they've been promising for years now...the old one's getting a little...well, old. This sketch is based on the CD-ROM cover art. (I said BASED, it's not TRACED!)Media used: graphite pencil

Hail to the king, baby!
I loved that game too. It's a shame they forgot about that steroid laden anti-hero.
His limbs turned out nice, but you should have bent his torso too to make his pose a bit more life-like. Just get into a pose like this in front of the mirror and see how your belt and shoulder line relate. It doesn't have to be 100% accurate, just by and large. The point is, nobody walks around with a completely straight spine. We are constantly balancing our body partly with our spine and if that's missing from a drawing it will look somewhat unnatural.
phew... Sorry for the long lecture...

Hm, you're probably right. Thanks for the suggestions! I pretty much just copied the pose from the CD-ROM cover art though, but I might have messed up a bit.
*tries to pose like Duke Nukem in front of a mirror* This just isn't working. It's hard to use myself as a model for him, being a girl and all. Damn it.

Yes, it can be hard beacuse of the different proportions.
Just study yourself in a neutral pose and you'l see what I mean. As I said, no need to be completely accurate, just bend the torso.
Uhh, almost forgot, the easier way is to take a look at this by cedarseed: [link]
Helped me a lot too!

Oh wow, that will be INCREDIBLY helpful. Humans/humanoids have always been the hardest subjects for me to draw, I always just BS my way through it if I don't have a model and I know it shows, I needed this! Thanks!
