A little practice I guess, I just wish I wasn't so lazy with stuff like this.

If I even attempt a background, I spend maybe thirty seconds on it until I decide that a solid color is alright.

Wow you should do backgrounds in SJ comics or something!

Why don't you do that? Maybe comic artists here on DA search for background makers for comics! OwO

Well, I'm still learning.
Oddly enough I was contacted for some background commission work but I had to turn it down.

Well, if UNIVAC commands... wait didn't COLOSSUS take over back in 1970?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Phillip-the-2 In reply to AtomicTiki [2011-07-21 21:59:42 +0000 UTC]
Nah, COLOSSUS predates UNIVAC by nearly a decade. UNIVAC...or rather, the UNIVAC 1103 (circa '53)...was the grandfather of modern Cray / SRC supercomputers. COLOSSUS, UNIVAC, and ENIAC get all the notoriety, but the little-known Zuse Z3 (circa '41) was the first 'digital' computer....but it was destroyed during an allied bombing raid in '43.

I'd completely forgot about this from Kuran's "Atomic Journeys": [link]
The back story is that I use to live in Hattiesburg in the mid 80s and remembered going skinny dipping with a coupla chicks along a road called "Tatum Salt Dome Road" that was surrounded by government property signs....which, at the time, just added to the (stupid) teenage adventure. The unusual name of the road stuck with me through the years for some reason.
....and then I saw that documentary.
Yeah, a nuclear test site in Mississippi...and what were the odds we'd pick that particular lake to do some nekkid swimming in?

Phillip-the-2 In reply to AtomicTiki [2011-07-28 16:56:19 +0000 UTC]
Yeah...nuclear test site...in Mississippi. You're thinking chain-link fencing, razor wire, armed guards, maybe even an attack dog or two...with lasers. Nope, just a three strand barbed wire fence and some scattered government property signs (that don't mention the department of energy). At the time I think we thought it was a wildlife conservation area.
...and no, I have not mutated into something resembling the Toxic Avenger.

Oh no, no, no...there are much, much worse things than 'fun with radiation' in the land of The Mouse. Behold! I give you: The Holy Land Experience [link] ...where Jesus dies for your sins and is resurrected twice daily at noon and 5:00pm. *groan*
For as much as I would love say there is a Savior-themed roller coaster or Moses-themed water ride, alas no, it's Orlando's one and only theme park that does not have thrill rides.

Ah yes, Ferris Beuller before he was "Beuller, Beuller, Beuller" and Ally Sheedy had a nice ass...but I digress. I didn't even give that direct-to-video POS of a sequel (2008) a second glance.
Yep, I've got four of the five Peter Kuran documentaries, including Trinity in 3-D...with the funky old-style glasses. The only one I don't have is Atomic Filmakers. [link] Unfortunately, it's a little hard to come by....and wasn't narrated by William Shatner (who did the first 3) or Adam West (the fifth one).
